Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Known as a playground for the rich and famous, this beautiful island in French Polynesia offers white sandy beaches, lush tropical valleys and crystal-clear water.
Bora Bora’s stunning beaches, lush greenery and soaring volcanic peaks make it a perfect vacation destination. Relax on the beautiful beaches, snorkel the tropical reefs or enjoy a cocktail at one of the many luxury hotels and resorts on the island.

The enormous range of hotels and resorts on Bora Bora make it possible to do nothing but sunbathe and swim, but if you are looking for action, the water is the place to be. Bora Bora has both a lagoon and a barrier reef, so many water activities are easily arranged. Scuba diving is an excellent way to view the marine life on the reef, and there are many diving schools that rent equipment.

Most of the tourist destinations are aqua-centric; however it is possible to visit attractions on land such as WWII cannons. Air Tahiti has five or six flights daily to the Bora Bora Airport on Motu Mute from Tahiti (as well as from other islands). The island is served by Bora Bora Airport on Motu Mute in the north, with Air Tahiti providing daily flights to and from Papeete on Tahiti.

Public transport on the island is nonexistent. Rental cars and bicycles are the recommended methods of transport. There are also small, two-seater buggies for hire in Vaitape. It is possible to rent a motorboat to explore the lagoon.

Snorkeling and scuba diving in and around the lagoon of Bora Bora are popular activities. Many species of sharks and rays inhabit the surrounding body of water. There are a few dive operators on the island offering manta ray dives and also shark-feeding dives.

In addition to the existing islands of Bora Bora, the new manmade motu of Motu Marfo has been added in the northeastern corner of the lagoon on the property of the St. Regis Resort.

Bora Bora is also known as a popular destination for celebrities. Visit Bloody Mary’s Restaurant and Bar, a popular local hangout, and check out the bar’s wall of fame. This has the names of the many celebrities who have dined there, including Jimmy Buffet, Pierce Brosnan and Goldie Hawn. Sit back and sip a cocktail while you enjoy the atmosphere on one of the most lovely islands in the world.

Plitvice Lakes National Park Croatia

Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the oldest national parks in Southeast Europe and the largest national park in Croatia. In 1979, Plitvice Lakes National Park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage register.
Plitvice Lakes National Park contains a series of beautiful lakes, caves and waterfalls. These have been formed by processes typical of karst landscapes such as the deposition of travertine barriers, creating natural dams. These geological processes continue today.
Each year, more than 1.1 million visitors are recorded. Entrance is subject to variable charges, up to 180 kuna or around $32USD per adult in peak season. Strict regulations apply.
The national park was founded in 1949 and is situated in the mountainous karstarea of central Croatia, at the border to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The important north-south road connection, which passes through the national park area, connects the Croatian inland with the Adriatic coastal region. The waters flowing over the limestone and chalk have, over thousands of years, deposited travertine barriers, creating natural dams which in turn have created a series of beautiful lakes, caves and waterfalls. These geological processes continue today. The forests in the park are home to bears, wolves and many rare bird species.
